TuRFMat™ from Western Nonwovens, Inc. (WNI) is a mat-like product that provides both erosion control and soil fertilization. We call it a Turf Reinforcement and Fertilization Mat (TRFM). TuRFMat™ may be soil in-filled and seeded into like a turf reinforcement mat or laid over seeded topsoil like an erosion control blanket.

The product is best used where accelerated vegetation growth is needed and anticipated shear stresses and flow velocities are low to moderate. For Example:

TuRFMat™ Features:

• Matrixed Polyester fibers bonded with a non water soluble acrylic based resin.
• Includes a blend of nitrogen and phosphorous compounds to fortify development of vegetation during root establishment.
• Provides short term accelerated growth and long-term reinforcement of vegetation.
• Manufactured with “Flame Retardant” technology.

Proven Results:

• ECTC Test Method 3 results have shown that TurfMat™ provides unvegetated shear stress values in excess of 3.5 pounds per square foot (for 1/2 inch soil loss).
• ECTC Test Method 4 results have shown that TurfMat™ provides seed germination enhancement in excess of 250% vs. soil and seed alone.
